It’s been a busy start to the year at Inspire Net. We have been continuing to upgrade parts of our wireless network while the summer weather holds, and also growing our own rural fibre network outside of the Government funded Ultrafast Broadband Areas. We have currently built / are building from the top of Halcombe through the Mt Stewart / Sanson / Sandon / Lees Road areas, and we have engaged our contractor to expand our existing fibre network at Hiwinui down to the plateau above Ashhurst and also down through Colyton Road, and some of Taonui Rd and Reids Line, which will keep our build team busy for all of this year. We will be letter-box dropping all the houses in our build plans, and we will be making contact with any of our existing wireless customers to arrange to move you to fibre as we go past. While our wireless network fills a need for people in rural areas, nothing beats a bit of fibre to your house for speed / future technologies. On the other side of that coin, payback on our fibre network is around 10 years, so we can only really grow it in areas where there is a density of houses, or new subdivisions coming along.
Inspire Net recently purchased a business called Venture Networks Limited which was a small Wireless Service provider in the Shannon area. We have built a new higher speed site beside their old equipment and are currently transitioning customers across to our services with modern equipment. This site will also improve coverage to other customers around the area, and we will be working to migrate some customers over to this to alleviate tree issues in their Line of Site to some of our other towers, as well as to spread some load to make the whole network better for everyone. |
