Almost monthly newsletter.

It’s been a busy start to the year at Inspire Net.

We have been continuing to upgrade parts of our wireless network while the summer weather holds, and also growing our own rural fibre network outside of the Government funded Ultrafast Broadband Areas. We have currently built / are building from the top of Halcombe through the Mt Stewart / Sanson / Sandon / Lees Road areas, and we have engaged our contractor to expand our existing fibre network at Hiwinui down to the plateau above Ashhurst and also down through Colyton Road, and some of Taonui Rd and Reids Line, which will keep our build team busy for all of this year.  We will be letter-box dropping all the houses in our build plans, and we will be making contact with any of our existing wireless customers to arrange to move you to fibre as we go past.  While our wireless network fills a need for people in rural areas, nothing beats a bit of fibre to your house for speed / future technologies. On the other side of that coin, payback on our fibre network is around 10 years, so we can only really grow it in areas where there is a density of houses, or new subdivisions coming along.

Inspire Net recently purchased a business called Venture Networks Limited which was a small Wireless Service provider in the Shannon area. We have built a new higher speed site beside their old equipment and are currently transitioning customers across to our services with modern equipment. This site will also improve coverage to other customers around the area, and we will be working to migrate some customers over to this to alleviate tree issues in their Line of Site to some of our other towers, as well as to spread some load to make the whole network better for everyone.

Inspire Net is again sponsoring the connectivity at the Rural Games in the Square being held on the 8-10th March. Make sure you pop down for a look at all the things that are happening.

There is also the Oroua Country Fair on March 23rd in the Kimbolton Domain. A great Family event.

We were also a proud sponsor of the Manawatu Dairy Industry Awards which was held on the 29th of February. Congratulations to the winners!

Useful stuff!

  • Did you know you can pay your bill online via our website? Feel free to give us a call if you need a hand, or would like your login details refreshed.

  • A reminder if you have a Domain Name account, these are billed yearly. We now send out an email reminder at 3 months and then one at 1 month prior to its renewal. So, if you are thinking about cancelling your domain, please let us know as early as possible. We are charged for these and so need to cover these costs. Also keep an eye out for your invoice as they are invoiced yearly. A lot of people forget.

  • With the cost-of-living crisis we are noticing more customers not paying their accounts on time. Following up on these, means our team are diverted away from helping customers to account maintenance, which we prefer not to have to do. We have implemented some more automation to account maintenance so you may find your account automatically locked if it’s not paid on time. This frees up our staff to keep helping customers and not having to chase up others. We don’t like locking accounts but we are a small local provider and this has a huge impact on our ongoing success. Sometimes people have changed plans and have forgotten to update their Automatic payment. Direct Debit is another good option to prevent missing payments. It’s also worth checking if you are on the correct plan. If you are unsure, please give us a call and we can check for you.

  • Are any of your family members visiting during the Easter break? It’s also School Holiday time again in April! Do you require an increase in your data allowance? If yes, give us a call and we can arrange it.

  • We note Spark are now going to be charging for their email addresses @xtra.co.nz. If you have one of these set up to receive your Inspire Net invoices, and are thinking of changing, please remember to let us know. Alternatively move over to an Inspire Net email address.

More tips from our Helpdesk

  • If an e-mail looks suspicious it probably is. Feel free to give us a call and we'll be happy to give a second opinion on it.

  • Try plugging a network cable from your Router to your Smart TV. This will help to make video streaming more consistent than over WiFi.

  • Did you know you can locate your WiFi password on the card provided to you or on the bottom of your Inspire Net router? Should you require any assistance, our Helpdesk team is just a call away and ready to lend a hand.

Wishing all of our customers a happy Easter break and let's hope the weather is settled!

- Your Inspire Net team.
