Welcome message from James

It's been a big year with our 20th anniversary in September. We have had a pile of promotions and giveaways, both for new and existing customers, lots of it has been on the radio or on Facebook, but even if you’re not a “Face-Booker” we have still put your name in the hat for some of those prizes. I would like to say not just Congratulations to those of you that grabbed a prize, but also a big Thank you to you all for supporting our company over the years, at the end of the day, we are nothing without you, our customers. We have put together a great book "20 years of inspiration" highlighting a bit of the last 20 years (see down below somewhere for a link to it).

We have our team Christmas function on Saturday, 15th December so we’ll be closing up the Helpdesk and our front office service desk a bit earlier at 12pm, so our entire team can celebrate the year together. We’ll be back with you on Sunday 16th as per usual, but don’t worry, we’ll have a network guru on stand-by just in case anything major happens to the network.

Rural Broadband Initiative update
Our Rural Tower upgrades are still progressing with speed, with nearly all of our Tararua towers finished and most of the Manawatu ones nearly done also. We will be heading into the Rangitikei from now until Winter to upgrade from about Marton to Raetihi, subject to a long hot summer. Lots of you will have upgraded radios now installed on your roof, or our staff or contractors will be in touch soon to arrange upgrading them. We need to complete every customer on a tower before we can turn the speed up, some of it is taking a bit longer than planned, some people may need to trim trees that have grown back since we first installed radios over 15 years ago…..

Upgrade to fibre
In the New Year we will be launching a faster fibre service. Currently for residential we offer a 100Mbit download and 20Mbit upload service, as well as a 200Mbit download and 100Mbit upload service. The new service planned is a  950Mbit download, 450Mbit upload service, and we are just sorting out the final costs from the local Fibre Companies that are building the Government funded fibre network around the country before we confirm the pricing. If you order fibre between now and when we launch the new product, there are no issues with changing plans when the new plans are announced, even if you have a 12 month contract with us, changing speed or traffic caps is not an issue.
 
WiFi around your house
With the new connection speeds in both our wireless and fibre networks, we are currently evaluating high quality WiFi routers, as although we get great connectivity to your house, often it is let down by a poor WiFi signal around your house. Our standard free router rental works well if it’s in the middle of your house and you only have a few devices, but in the new world we are seeing customers that have 30+ devices in their homes (I am guilty of this now...), their homes are much larger than standard and they are trying to use devices in places that they were not used before (for example, WiFi doesn’t work in the bathroom, it’s probably due to a mirror on the wall between you and the router). The goal for next year is to launch a premium router with an option for a WiFi booster somewhere else in your house. 
 
If you are having a few problems on your Wifi at home, take a look at where you have put your router, has it fallen behind the desk, been pushed behind the TV while being dusted, buried in a cupboard somewhere, or maybe it has slowly vanished down under a pile of paperwork. If it has, move it out into a little bit of space and your WiFi can get dramatically better.

A message from Paul, our General Manager

As James has said above, it has been a busy year at Inspire Net. We celebrated our 20th year in business in September and a number of you won prizes, including a total of 6 years of Internet we gave away!

We have been continuing to upgrade our huge wireless network as part of the governments RBI2 initiative, with speeds moving from 5/1 to 25/5 peak as this work is being completed. We have successfully completed a lot of this work in the Tararua and some of the Manawatu with Whanganui and Rangitikei scheduled for next year. As you are upgraded to the faster speeds, remember to keep an eye on your data caps, or call us to move up to the next plan if needed.

With the wireless upgrades and new installs, you may have noticed that it wasn’t an Inspire Net team member who visited your house but one of our trusted subcontractors. Due to the large amount of work and places to visit we just can't get it all done ourselves in a timely manner. These subbies have been cracking through the upgrade work so we can offer the faster speeds sooner while our own staff are busy working on the tower upgrades. I have had some great feedback from customers and if you ever have any questions, issues or concerns please call our friendly helpdesk who are only too happy to help.
 
We continue to support a huge number of local groups through sponsorship and we now have our free wifi available in Palmerston North and Whanganui hospitals, Ronald McDonald House Auckland, Arohanui Hospice, and have changed our free wifi in community areas such as the Palmerston North CBD to a time-based plan, where you will receive unlimited free wifi instead of the data restricted plan previously provided. We changed this service so people can enjoy being connected when out and about in the community.

As we grow, my main focus continues to be to ensure that we are still the friendly, helpful team that answers all of your questions and deals with any issues as fast as we can. When employing new staff this is one of the key things we look for, to ensure they fit as part of our team and our customer service focus.
 
Just a reminder if you still have an old copper phone line, why not upgrade to our VOIP (Voice over internet protocol) line for $15 per month. Currently the first month is free and you can even bring your existing phone number across or choose a new one. 
 
As the holiday season fast approaches, the Inspire Net team wishes you a safe and happy holiday period. Remember the Helpdesk team is on deck between 7am-10pm over the Holiday period other than Christmas Day when we are closed.

Hi everyone, 
It’s been a huge year for us, our first ever stand at the CD Field Days, celebrating 20 years in business, receiving funding from the government for our RBI initiative, beginning new sponsorship partnerships and the launch of our new website… it’s all been very rewarding being able to connect our rural friends who haven’t had other options, receiving letters and cards from our new little friends at Ronald McDonald house and many many more fantastic messages of support from customers who have been with us from day one, and are still loyal Inspire Net customers 20 years on! So, a huge thank you from the entire Inspire Net team to all of you!
 
I would like to give a huge thank you to the guy who makes this all happen. James is not one to boast, but it’s fantastic working for a company that does so much for this community that we live in. 
 
We’re all about Internet and connecting people, but these holidays make sure you take a break from the online world to spend some quality time with friends and family. Have a great Christmas, and we’ll see you back in 2019.
