As always there has been a lot going on here at Inspire Net since the last Almost Monthly newsletter. There is still a lot more to come but I thought I’d give you all an update on the changes that are already underway.
For many years we have operated our helpdesk from 9am to 9pm, 7 days a week. We have recently extended those hours out to 8am to 10pm, every day of the year except Christmas Day, so our award winning helpdesk team are now even easier to contact. We have also grown our helpdesk team to enable us to ensure the same ‘real people, real service’ attitude we’re so passionate about.
New Broadband Plan Prices
We are currently in the process of changing the way our ADSL services are delivered to us from Telecom, this will eventually enable us to access much better troubleshooting tools and provide an even more reliable service to our customers. As a result there will be some price changes to our Bitstream plans. We will also contact you directly with the price and/or speed changes for your individual plans. There will be significant reductions to our high traffic plans and high speed plans, and minor increases to our entry level plans. We are implementing the new pricing and plan changes on the 1st of October to coincide with the GST change, so that customers only need to change their automatic payments once. The biggest plan price increase is $2.50, and the biggest plan drop is $37.50. Full details of the upcoming price changes are available on our website here.
MetroLAN Fibre and Wireless Expansion
We’ve been very busy lately opening up new areas for our MetroLAN Wireless service including Apiti, Mangaweka, Pukeokahu and even a network to cover the greater Blenheim area.
Additionally we have built and commissioned a new tower to service Shannon, Opiki, Linton, Bainesse, Foxton, Levin and the surrounding areas. If you live in this area we are offering the first 50 people that wish to connect to this tower a discounted rate of $150 instead of the usual $350 for a full installation. This includes everything you need to get connected including a router to go inside your house to enable you to use your laptop wirelessly around your house, or to connect your main PC, all at the same time. Shortly we will be making phone services available over top of our wireless as well, meaning you can finally cut your ties with Telecom completely.
We’re continuing to expand into new areas so if you’ve not been able to get the service in the past it might pay to give us a call again just in case.
MetroLAN wireless plans will not be increasing in price with the GST rise on 1st October.
Server Room Upgrades / Building Changes
Over the coming months we will be upgrading our server room extensively, doubling the capacity of the server room itself, installing a new fully redundant 90kVA UPS, 250kVA generator, and extensive air conditioning upgrades. During the changeovers I anticipate there may be up to 4 5-10 minute outages on our core network as we change servers over into the new environment, at which time we will be running on our generator while we upgrade the mains from the street into our building. These outages will occur in the wee small hours of the morning, as that’s the time that we hope should not impact many of you.
Additionally during these changeovers we will be moving / upgrading our customer service centre in the Inspire building. There will be a few days with builders in the service centre during October while we move a few walls, so my apologies for those of you that come to visit while its happening, but it’s all in the name of progress.
Once we confirm the building changes and book the tradespeople, I will let you all know the days of the possible outages etc.
