About Inspire Net

Introduction

InSPire Net recognises that Spam is a problem that affects the majority of our customers. Many hours can be wasted dealing with the influx of Spam that occurs every day.

 Stopspam

Due to this, InSPire Net is one of the first New Zealand ISP's to sign InternetNZ's Internet Service Providers Spam Code of Practice. This is a voluntary code that outlines an ISP's duties when dealing with Spam.

Dealing with Spam

There are a variety of resources available to assist Inspire Net customers in dealing with Spam.

If you are finding many Spam emails arriving in your Inbox that have a subject line that begins with ***SPAM*** then you may find our Spam filtering instructions useful. If you have any difficulties with these instructions then please give our helpdesk a call on 0800 484 363.

If you're still finding many emails are arriving in your Inbox that are not being detected as Spam then you may need to adjust your Spam filtering levels. These are available by logging in to our Accounts Server. You can also have these adjusted by contacting our helpdesk on 0800 484 363.

If you find a non-Spam email has been falsely detected as a Spam email then this is what is known as a false positive. With your Spam settings set to high then you have more risk of these false positives occuring. Email any of these to falsepositive @ inspire dot net dot nz .

If you have Spam emails that are still coming in to your Inbox and not being detected as Spam then you can help us train our Spam filters. Please forward these emails to spamfilter @ inspire dot net dot nz .

InternetNZ has some useful resources available. The Stop Spam website is a great starting point when trying to minimise the effect of Spam.

Spam Legislation

The Department of Internal Affairs' Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007 came into effect on the 5th of September 2007. This act prohibits unsolicited commercial electronic messages (spam) with a New Zealand link, i.e. messages sent to, from, or within New Zealand. InSPire Net supports this act and will deal with any spam complaints in a quick and effective manner. Spam complaints regarding Inspire Net customers should be sent to abuse @ inspire dot net dot nz .

If you receive a Spam mail from someone, or a company, that is sourced from within New Zealand you are entitled to make a complaint regarding this. You can contact the ISP that the Spam came from, or you can lay a complaint with the Department of Internal Affairs.

Inspire Net is a supporter and signatory of the Internet Service Providers Spam Code of Practise. This code seeks to establish industry wide practices and procedures relating to SPam emails.

Inspire Net has Terms and Conditions that our subscribers agree to abide by. These Terms and Conditions prohibit the sending of Spam emails. If a customer breaches these Terms and Conditions then their Inspire Net account may be suspended without notice.
